1. The European Space Agency says it has succeeded in landing a space craft on a comet for the first time in history. The Agency says it has received the signal from the 220-pound Philae lander after it touched down on the comet’s icy surface which is moving at 41,000 miles an hour.
2. Congressional republicans are already criticizing a deal by the US and China for a faster track to curbing the heat-trapping gases blamed for global warming. The US and China agreed for the first time to a self-imposed deadline of 2030 for when its emission will top out.
3. Ten newly elected Republican Senators met with their future leader, Mitch McConnell, on Capitol Hill. The GOP will hold at least 54 seats in the Senate when the new Congress is sworn into office in January.
4. And surveillance video on Port Saint Lucie, Florida appears to show a man hiding a chainsaw under his shirt at a lawn equipment store. Police charged the man, who employees say, ditched the chainsaw in a parking lot after they gave chase.
